Dolabra vs Canto in Arc Raiders

The Flashpoint Update introduced two new weapons: the legendary Dolabra energy shotgun and the rare Canto SMG. Both dominate at close range but play very differently. Here is how they compare across every metric that matters.

Damage Output

The Dolabra deals higher burst damage per shot, especially in focused mode where it can one-shot weaker ARC units. The Canto has lower per-bullet damage but compensates with a much higher fire rate. In terms of raw DPS against a single target, the Canto's sustained fire rate gives it an edge. But the Dolabra's focused burst can delete targets before the Canto finishes its first magazine.

Effective Range

Both weapons are designed for close quarters, but the Dolabra's focused mode extends its effective range slightly further than the Canto. The wide burst mode is shorter range than the Canto's effective distance. The Canto is more consistent at medium-close range while the Dolabra excels at point-blank and has a niche at medium range through focused mode.

Ammo Economy

The Canto runs on medium ammunition which is common and easy to find. The Dolabra uses energy cells which are less abundant. For extended raids or farming runs, the Canto is more sustainable. The Dolabra requires more deliberate ammo management and is better suited for focused engagements rather than prolonged firefights.

Versatility

The Dolabra's variable focus gives it more tactical flexibility: crowd control with wide burst, armor penetration with focused mode. The Canto does one thing extremely well: close-range sustained DPS. If you want a weapon that adapts to different situations, the Dolabra wins. If you want raw CQB killing power, the Canto is more reliable.

Availability

The Canto is rare rarity and drops from standard loot pools on all maps. The Dolabra is legendary and found primarily in Close Scrutiny operations. Most Raiders will find a Canto long before they find a Dolabra. For accessibility and consistency, the Canto is the practical choice. The Dolabra is the aspirational endgame weapon.

Verdict

The Dolabra is the better weapon overall thanks to its variable focus versatility and devastating burst damage. But the Canto is more accessible, easier to supply with ammo, and nearly as effective in its niche. Use the Canto while farming for the Dolabra, then decide based on your playstyle. Aggressive pushers will prefer the Canto's consistency. Tactical players will love the Dolabra's adaptability.
