PvP Combat Guide for Arc Raiders
Dominate player vs player combat in Arc Raiders. Weapon selection, positioning, engagement tactics, and the mindset needed to win against human opponents.
PvP Mindset
Fighting human players in Arc Raiders is fundamentally different from fighting AI enemies. Humans adapt, flank, and make unpredictable decisions. Success in PvP requires a different mindset: always assume the other player is better than you, and use positioning and preparation to eliminate their skill advantage. The player who fights on their own terms almost always wins.
PvP Weapon Meta
Fast time to kill weapons dominate PvP encounters. The Tempest and Arpeggio are current PvP favorites for their burst damage and handling speed. SMGs excel at close range while battle rifles like the Venator dominate medium range corridors. Avoid slow firing weapons that give opponents time to react and take cover.
Positioning Wins Fights
Eighty percent of PvP encounters are decided by positioning, not aim. Take high ground whenever possible. Fight from cover. Force enemies to cross open ground to reach you. If you are not in an advantageous position, reposition before engaging. The few seconds spent finding better ground pay off enormously when the shooting starts.
Reading Other Players
Listen for footsteps, gunfire, and environmental interactions to track player positions. Watch for movement in windows and doorways. Fresh ARC corpses mean another player was recently in the area. Resource containers that have already been looted tell you someone passed through. Every piece of information helps you predict and control encounters.
When to Engage and When to Avoid
Not every player encounter needs to be a fight. If another player has not seen you, evaluate whether engaging benefits you. Fighting costs ammo, health, and time. If they are heading away from your objectives, letting them pass is often the smarter play. Engage when you have a clear advantage or when the potential loot on their body justifies the risk.
Surviving PvP Encounters
If you are ambushed, immediately break line of sight. Sprint to cover, use smoke grenades, or drop behind terrain. Do not try to out aim someone who shot first. Reset the engagement on your terms. If you are wounded and outgunned, extract immediately. Surviving with partial loot beats dying with everything. Live raiders can always come back for more.
